Moses Tozer of Devon, Eng

I am interested in the family of Mozes Tozer, born 1704, probably in Broadhempston, Devon. He married Joan (Jone) Williams in 1733 and had a son John in 1734. John married Mary Cook(?) in 1760, then Elizabeth Gotham (nee Simpson?), widow of John Gotham.
If anyone has any information I would be most grateful.
Many thanks,

I just came across your post regarding the above. I have a Moses Tozer son of Solomon Tozer baptised 1685 in Ashburton Devon. He married Mary Stoneham in 1709 St Peter Cathedral. Am looking for any further information.

Does this ring any bells??
Cheers

I have a Dugald Hamilton Tozer, WWI vet, who enlisted at Calgary, Alberta in 1916. He lists his next of kin as a Miss F. Tozer, Priestaford, Ashburton, Devon. Is there a connection?

I would say it's almost certain that he is part of the Ashburton Tozer family, as it was a very large family going back at least to the early 1500s.
Prudence and Priscilla were female names in the family, but I can't find your Miss P Tozer, as the the parish register I looked at stops at 1837.
If you can manage to get Dugald back to his grandparents, or even his great grand parents, then I might be able to make a link.
Cheers,
Alwynne

I checked his WWI papers again. He was born in Mauchline, Ayrshire, Scotland and the next of kin, Miss F. Tozer, being an aunt probably makes him very difficult trace. Unfortunatley the family has no information on him at all.
Thank you for your interest.

He certainly sounds Scottish, but Tozer is definitely an English name.
If I come across anything, I shall let you know.

Hello,
Miss Florence Tozer born July qua 1861 in Ashburton, Devon, England and died a spinster 26 Feb 1933 in Oxford, Oxfordshire, England, was indeed aunt to your ancestor. There are plenty of records of her on this site.
As this post is so old, you probably have all this information by now.
Kind regards,
Angela
