I'm trying to trace my family roots. My father's name is Bernard C. Toye. He came to the U.S. in the 1940's. His father's name was Bernard Toye and his mother's name was Sarah Toye (Gallagher). My dad was the second youngest of 10 brothers and sisters. His mother died after giving birth to his younger brother Ned Toye. After the death of his mother his brothers and sisters were separated and sent to live in a catholic home. I do know a couple of his sisters names were Nellie Toye & Maria Toye. The names of his brothers that I know of are Ned Toye & Jack Toye. I would like to find as much information about my father's side of the family as possible. I believe the family is from County Derry or County Donegal area. Anyone with any information???

Hello, I am from Milford Co. Donegal, i have just read your posting from 2007. I believe we are related as my fathers name is Edward Toye and his fathers name was Charles Toye, Charles's brothers and sisters were, Ned, Jack, Bernard, Willie, Nellie,Annie, Mariah, sally and Joe.Is your father still alive? My fathers father Charles died in 1973 Jack, annie, willie, Joe and Nellie are dead. Ned is in a nursing home in Ramelton , Donegal, 5 Minutes from were i live. Mariah lives in Derry and is hale and hearty in her 80's. My Grandfather had 17 of a family, 14 still alive, All expect for 3 are still living in Donegal with families.
I asked my father about Bernard and he was told he went to America and lost contact with home. Where are you from? Would love to hear more about your family.

Looking forward to hearing from you,
Kind Regards,

Leanne Toye

Hello, I am also looking for any information that I can find on Toyes from Ireland. I don't know much so probably will not shed light on your search but I figure I will share what I know to see if there are any connections. My Grandmother was Marie Toye (married to John Avery they settled in Hornell,NY) she had quite a few brothers. The one brother I knew growing up was Joe Toye from Reading or Hershey,PA. He is written about and portrayed in the book and movie "Band of Brothers".My grandmother told me her parents were Irish and came to the Pennsylvania when she was around 13. That's most of what I know..not much I realize.
Hope it helps,
Martina
