I think Bernard senior is my great grandfather and your father is my great uncle- i am just starting to trace my roots. My grandfather (Willie) came from a very large family 6 brothers, charlie, Ned and Eddie are 3 of them and 3 sisters Maria, Nellie and Hannah??? and I have looked Bernard up on 1911 census and his family is the only Toye family in Milford at the time. If i am on the correct root your great grandfather was Edward born approx 1842 and great grandmother is Letita born approx 1840. Can you share any information with me???

I am Willie's granddaughter. My father was the second son of his first marriage to Brigid - she died when he was 5 years old. Can you give me any information to help me build the family tree. I am very new to this but i would like to do it for my dad. I know of Ned's recent death - he used to visit us in England as children. My father is Liam - do you know him???

Hi Sean
I just happened to see this thread.
My great-great grandmother was Mary Toye who was born in Sockar Co Donegal which is about 8 km west of Letterkenny.
She came to Australia in 1849 on a female orphan ship and died in 1902 at Chiltern Victoria Australia. On her marriage certificate her parents were listed as Patrick Toye farmer deceased and Elizabeth (maiden name) Lynch. Before emigrating she was in the workhouse at Letterkenny.
I visited Ireland including Sockar last year and plan to return next year, hopefully armed with more information.
Any information on the Toye or the Lynch names in the Letterkenny area would be appreciated.
Bill
