I honestly had no idea that there were other Toye's in this world beside me. Call me crazy but I am so excited. Does anyone know how I would find out if anyone is related to me?

Hello Jenel, As you will discover the "Toye"s are more numerous than you would expect..and to add to the challenge, some Toyes at some times left off the "e" i.e. Toy, as with some of my ancestors. Many approaches to descovering roots but best to start, if possible, with immediate relatives. Please communicate if you would like. I am relatively new at this also...perhaps we are related??? I live in Toronto, Canada. We have been here for several generations, but before that came from Birmingham, England. Good luck! David.

Thanks for responding to my message. I only have a few details about my family history so far and like you had mentioned that is only from my immediate family. My father's name is Walter J. Toye. He and his twin brother Edwin Toye were born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. My grandfather's name was Walter Toye. He was also born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. My grandfather's father's name was Herbert Toye, born in Richmond, Virginia. Unfortunatly it doesn't appear that we're related, although I guess I could be wrong. The only connection I have to England (that I know about) is my grandmother, Jean Brent-Jones Toye. But obviously she was only a Toye by marriage. If there is anything that you can think of that might help me in my search, please let me know. I'd really appreciate it! Thanks--Jenel

Just wanted to say thanks for your help. It was nice talking to another Toye even though we're not related. Thank you.

Hi, I know this reply is 12 years out of date, but I believe we are related through the Toys. Your Toy ancestors came from Wolverhampton in England. Hope this message gets to you.

Hello Mike ............ another 2 years have passed LOL.

I will check this site more frequently in hope that you might see this message & might choose to reply.
I would be interested in any information that you have that you feel MIGHT relate to my Toy(e) roots and would be willing to share.. My Canadian ancestors ( Samuel & Rueben Toy ) left the Birmingham area ( West Bromwich ) in / about the 1860s.

Take Care, David Toye

David. I have checked my Birmingham Family tree and I cannot find a match with yours .I also checked a contact a Richard Toy who came from Sutton Coldfield he does not match either. I would suggest you have a Dna done and that should narrow down the various Toy[e] s in the Birmingham area .Richards Haplogroup is J1 and mine is the common R1b1c.I believe my line are connected to the Toye's in Brighton awaiting a further Dna result. If I can help you in any way please let me know. Take care
