My paternal grandmother, Margaret Toy married Jacob Virtue Schrock of Somerset County Pa. It has been suggested that her ancesters came from what is now Northern Ireland and the house of Orange. Can you help me getting started?

I have accomplished quite a bit of research on the Toy/Toye name in No. Ireland. There were several Margarets. Do you have further information or dates?

This is what I have learnedsince my posting. Her father was Archy F Toy (1848-1939) born in county Antrium and emigrated to US in 1850

The Toys I have researched date from 1760 to 1850 in Derry (now Londonderry) County, North Ireland. There were 4 established families in the parish of Garvagh beginning with the parish visit of 1796. Between 1796 and 1850 the parish recorded each of the families and their children during visits spaced about 10 years apart. At the 1850 visit, no Toys were recorded in the parish. I'm still trying to find where they all went. Mine went to Ontario, Canada about 1841. I know of another branch that stayed in Ireland. At any rate, there was an Archibald Toy (maybe more than one)in one or more of the 4 families. I will have to dig through my records and see what I can come up with. Even then, I don't know that we will be able to determine if these Archibalds are connected. I'll get back to you.
