Hello Lee,
My name is Mike Clarke in Iowa, and I am researching my Grandmother's maiden
name of Tousley. I recieved your e:Mail address from Rex Towsley with whom
I've corresponded over the past couple of months regarding family history.
Although the spellings are not the same, I believe that most, if not all,
Tousley's, Towlsey''s, and Towslee's come from the same original ancestor in
North America. I would be interested in sharing information. I am aware of
at least 5 maybe 6 family history documents that have been written since the
late 1800's on the Tousley/Towsley/Towslee family. So far I have only been
able to find one recent partial history and a portion of a more complete line
written in 1935 by Horace Winfried Tousley and published by the Tousley
Family association.
A quick outline of my relationship to the Tousley line is as follows:
Micheal Towsley - 1653
Matthew Towsley - 18 Nov 1690
William Tousley - 5 feb 1731 (Believed to be the first to change
spelling)
Eliphalet Tousley - 1764 Born in Vermont, removed to Royalton Ohio in
the 1830's with all but eldest daughter.
James Tousley - 3 Apr 1797 Born in Vermont, came to Ohio with
parents.
Edmund Wallace Tousely - 18 May 1833
Jay Aaron Tousley - 17 Feb 1870
Dorthy Helen Tousley - 22 Jan 1899 (My Grandmother)
I also have close to 100 old photographs including tin plates dating back to
the early 1800's. Many of these are as yet unidentified and include
Tousley's from Ohio, Michigan, Wisconsin and Minnesota.
Let me know if we might be able to share information.
Happy Holidays,
Mike Clarke
