Looking for more info on Elizabeth Smith, who married a Toward in New Cumnock Parish, Ayrshire, Scotland. Although they moved for a time, I believe they returned to New Cumnock and a lot of their children were born there.
Her mother, Catherine Glendinning married John Smith, in Closeburn parish, Dumfriesshire, Scoltand. I don't have much information about Catherine except a rough guesss of when she was born, (1782)but I know from my gr gr grandfather's death certificate that she married John Smith(a grain miller) and had a large family. Catherine's husband John can be found in New Cumnock parish, Ayrshire on the 1841 census but Catherine may have died because she never shows up on any census records with him. The family must have moved to New Cumnock between 1826-1841.
Their children born or baptised in Closeburn parish, Dumfriesshire:
John 1805 (married and had a large family, lived in New Cumnock but died in Penpont parish, Dumfriesshire)
Margaret 1807
Mary 1809
Janet 1811
Elizabeth 1814
Catherine 1816
William 1822, (married Margaret McNaught(McKnight) of Sorn & had a large family: Margaret, Catherine Glendinning, Mary, Janet, Marion, Agnes, Elizabeth, James, John & William Smith).
Elizabeth 1826 (married Mr. Toward, had a large family, lived in New Cumnock)
