Hi There,
I've seen your name on lots of searches of the roots of the Tovrea family, but never thought much about it. I'm pretty sure that I'm a direct descendant of Thomas Tovrea. I have to get you the names but I am the second daughter of Wilbert James Tovrea, who is the first son of Wilbert Tovrea, who is the grandson, I believe of Thomas. I will ask my grandparents what my grandpa's dad's name is and if he remembers anything of his relatives.
Having traveled abroad, I've heard what could be considered the root word of the name Tovrea. After all, most last names describe a place or a trade. In France the word for troubadour is trouvere. I've had many French professors tell me that they are sure that that must be the root word. In Italian, troubadour is trovatore. I must admit, sounds pretty close. So I guess our ancestors were a band of wandering minstrels for all we know.
Sincerely, Jennifer

Hi Jennifer,
Always nice to hear from another Tovrea. Aren't too many of us around. If you can give me some more information like years and locations, I can probably connect you to our Thomas born 1791 in PA. I do have a Wilbert who was a son of George W Tovrea b 1892 in IA & Malinda Gray. George was a son of Thomas A Tovrea born 1859 & Tillie Smith. This Thomas would be grandson of Thomas born in 1791. Let me know if this kind of fits your lineage.
