If any of you are Toveys of Irish Ancestry (as in County Kilkenny) Congratulations ! You are related to me ! My brother and I have done extensive family research, back to Ireland. Would love to make contact with cousins in America and Canada.

I am helping a friend to find information on her family.
We have: John Tovey b. April 1771 Kilkenny Co. Ireland. Married Margaret (?) born abt. 1779 also Kilkenny. Both died in Perth Ontario and are burried in St. John Parrish Cemetery in Perth. Any information is most welcome, thanks.

I am from America, but not sure where the name i carry came from. If you want to talk about this sometime...email me....this is the earliest relative i know of...Albert tovey...lived in the 1900's...my grandfather.
Thanks, Casey Tovey

Casey, you get (a) your fathers birth certificate then his fathers birth certificate from which ever government authority has such information in your country. Death certificates are good too, they list spouses, children, year of birth etc. FIRST join a Geneology Centre in your city and learn about the record uncovering process step by step.We can't teach you on here ! Good Luck ! Mary Tovey.

Thank you....That's a first step in the right direction. Thank you!

How to research relatives....
Where are you ? I'm in Australia, which is why I can't tell you more precisely which governments handle your births deaths and marriages documents. Are your ancestors English or Irish Toveys ?
|
I am not sure if they are english or irish...I really know nothing about my heritage. I am from the USA. Born in Michigan.

I can't add much more than I've already said. If you can't ask your father, then get your own birth certicate, and start from there. Start collecting birth, death, marriage certificates of your nearest and dearest (father/grandfather) they will give you their immediate ancestors and you work back from there. As I advised you last email, join a local geneology group and join one of their geneology classes for beginners. Go to it girl !
