SEEKING TOUCHARD ANCESTORS

My TOUCHARD branch is from London, England. My father was born 1913 in Shoreditch, London
His eldest brother, George was Mayor of Shoreditch 1952-1953.
I have no family documents as all was destroyed in air-raid in WWII when the family house was burnt down.
There is such a small TOUCHARD community in England - I'm sure we must all be related. I wanted a link from France
to London. Earliest names are Charles TOUCHARD and Marquerite BOUTINIER christening children at Threadneedle St Church in London
in 1681 and 1683. Earliest French entries- Merevill, IDF France 1550, 1580 in Le Poislay, Central France and in Caaen, France.

I am kin to Elizabeth Touchard, daughter of Felix Touchard born in 1806. This is as far back as I can go with our line. Elizabeth was my Great-Great-Grandmother. She married Louis Joseph Dufrene and had my Grandfather Adam Schoolmeyer. I do not have any further information. I know they lived in the New Orleans area. We are just beginning to trace our history. Any links would be greatly appreciated.

Barbara - I have researched GenWeb-France.
Many Touchards listed there. Mostly info is
in French. Most ancestoral Touchards are in Pays
de Loire (78 of them), 77 in Centre province(Orleans)
iand 52 in Ile de France (Paris). The
earliest is in Caaen around 1400 - Merville, IDF
in 1550. In French GenWeb is Migrant Page.
Presently there are over 15K in France.
I am awaiting response from posting in cailgeo
from French GenWeb. That is where you need
to go and subsribe to see if you get answers.
I'm the first generation in USA, my grandmother's
sister immigrated to Detroit early 1900, but
for the Touchards, until I get lineage, I think
my branch stayed in UK.
Pls keep in touch. You did not give any dates/places
for Felix Touchard. I found a Felix on "FreeBMD" -
married in Clerkenwell, London Jun 1852. Check
it out - freebmd.rootsweb.com

I have not had much luck with the research so far, but I am just getting started. I will keep you posted on what I find. I can be reached at hornocker@cableone.net if you find a link down the line. Thanks for your help!

Will do - on vacation so it wont' be immediate.
I'm sure as you progress you'll find your link
I found a couple of good methods - type in
Touchard+GEDCOM for any family webpages already
created on various search engines.
Look up Huguenot and places for any history.
Snippets of info from history of New Orleans
and the Dragoons (first explorers in US). Trouble
is there is sooo much out there! Much of the
good information has to be paid for or from
contacts who have paid for Census reports and
books. I will let you know anything relevant
I stumble across.

Anybody related to Louis Touchard (France)emigrated to New Orleans around early 1900s or so (maybe earlier). He was my great-grandfather? My grandfather and father were both named George August Touchard.

Is the Louis Touchard you are looking for Louis Joseph Touchard born 11/5/1876, father Felix Touchard? If so, we have more information.

Reply to Barbara,

Well, according to his immigration papers which are in French, I did see the date 1865. I know that he had a brother and they came from France to New Orleans together.

Thanks,
Cynthia Touchard

Cynthia: Did you ever trace back to French pedigrees?
I think my branch was from Paris but that is just a hunch
per page
