Daniel Robert Toth, 78, passed away Saturday afternoon, March 6, 2010, at Hospice House in Poland, Ohio following a courageous one-year battle with cancer.
Daniel, who was known to many as “Bob,” was born Dec. 31, 1931, in Youngstown, Ohio a son of the late Joseph and Gabriella Mestrovich Toth.
He was a 1951 graduate of Wilson High School, attended Youngstown State University, and graduated from ATES Technical School in 1968.
Bob was a veteran of the United States Navy during the Korean War, serving aboard the U.S.S. Horace A. Bass.
He was employed at U.S. Steel, McDonald Welding, and Amthor Steel as a draftsman, retiring in 2002.
Mr. Toth enjoyed bowling, golfing, polka dancing and gardening. He was a member of the Boardman, Ohio Businessman’s Bowling League, its Monday and Thursday senior’s league, and was a member of the St. Joseph’s Men’s Thursday golf league. He was also an avid fan of the Cleveland Browns, Cavaliers and Indians, and of YSU and Ohio State Football.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret Lesnak Toth, whom he married April 21, 1956; two daughters, Kathy (Bob) Stojkov of Austintown, Ohio and Janet (Kent) Spalsbury of Overland Park, Kansas; his sisters, Irene Baron of Irvine, Calif., Donna Round of Columbiana, Ohio; Eleanor Mook of Lordstown, Ohio and Delores (Glenn) Johnson of New Waterford; his brother William (Pat) of Lake Milton, Ohio; his grandchildren, Lindsay and Robert Stojkov, and Steven and Lauren Spalsbury; and many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, a daughter, Jacqueline Marie; two sisters, Josephine Darvis and Emma Krasnasky; and brother Albert Toth, are deceased.
Family and friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Kinnick Funeral Home, 477 N. Meridian Road, Youngstown, Ohio.
Funeral services will take place at the funeral home on Tuesday at 11 a.m.
Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
