My grandfather Lorenzo Estrada married
Gertrude Toscano from Ceralvo Mexico. This occurred during Pancho Villa's days around 1910 or so. My mother has told me stories about the Toscanos and has a picture of Margarito Toscano her uncle who was a linguist and taught at Columbia University in New York. Gertrude's dad was a carpenter from Italy who helped build the church in Ceralvo. Ceralvo was a big silver mining town in those days. There are many Toscanos from this lineage in the San Antonio,tx and Floresville,Tx area. They have reunions often. My sister attended one about five years ago.

Robert I just want to thank you for the e-mail. My mother tells me that her grandfather Gervacio Toscano married Trinidad Gutierrez in Cerralvo end of the 1800's or begining of 1900's. Their desendents now are spread out through California, Texas, Michigan, and Nuevo Leon, Mexico.

Over the july 4th weekend I got to speak to my mom and she told me some more stories. Juan and Pablo Toscano came to Cerralvo in the 1870s from Italy. Juan also brought over three sons Andres,Crescenscio, and Margarito. Pablo left to the states and was lost for many decades.
Juan remarried in Cerralvo. He married Gabriela Gonzales. They had 2 daughters and a son. The son was named Abel and the daughters were named Emma and Gertrudis. My grandmother was named Gertrudis. She was born in 1886. She lived most of her life in
Mercedes. And all of her sons and daughters are still living. They range in age from 75 to 90.
Abel was in the Masons. He went to a big meeting in San Antonio. It must have been in the 1930s or so. He begin talking to a man and found out his name was also Toscano. After further conversation he found out that this other man was the son of Pablo Toscano and that they were related. The families of Juan and Pablo had a big reunion and stayed in touch after that.
My mom who is 82 attended some of those reunions to get acquainted with that side of the family.
Margarito ended up staying in San Antonio for a while. He met a woman from Kentucky and they moved to New York. He is the linguist who knew 7 languages who we are very proud of even though we are distant relatives. After he left we lost touch of him and we dont know his ancestors.
We have never traced backed to Italy but that would be very interesting. My mom said if you all are from Cerralvo then somehow you all are probably related because I'm telling you how the Toscanos got to Cerralvo. She did not think there was another separate Toscano family. The city was not that big back then.

I really don't know much about my fathers family roots. My grandfathers name is Genardo Toscano. I don't remember his fathers name but they used to live south of San Antonio in Pleasanton. My grandmother told me that they were from Benividas TX. I was wondering if anyone has a Toscano Family tree I could see. Am trying to trace my family roots on that side of my family.
