I am researching the Toscani name and would be interested in hearing from you if you would like to exchange information. So far most of my family history has been in the Netherlands, but information on the Toscani name anywhere in the world would be welcome.

Hi Inez, I have run across Carolina Toscani several times in my research but I have not been able to connect her to my family yet. Judging from your last name I take it your connection is by way of Anna Elizabeth le Roux and Petrus Schade.

I did not know Carolina's birth date, but now that I do I suspect she may have been a sister of Johannes Balthazar Toscani born about 1794 in Amsterdam, Noord-Holland. Johannes' father was Christiaan Benjamin Toscani and his mother was Regina Barbara Blomhard. Do you know of either of these people?

Hi Larry, I don't know of any of my relatives that emmigrated to the US, but the name is rare enough that there probably is a connection. Do you know of any of the New York Toscani clan with a Dutch connection?

I'm Larry's mom. Read your message and was surprised that any Dutch person would have such an Italian name. I'm Irish but my husband Larry is Italian. We don't know any Dutch Toscani people.

How is the weather there. It is turning to sprint here. We live in Upstate New York. Nice talking to you. Funny we both have the same last name!
Talk to you again.

Hi Ray, sorry it did take such a while before responding. Do you make me curious!
Your assumption is correct, Anna Elizabeth le Roux and Petrus Schade were my gg-parents

I havenot done any research myself yet on Carolina Toscani. What I do know about her (inc. dates)
was passed on by a leRoux-researcher. branch of Anna Elisabeths brother, married to Petrus sister.
That information (wich no doubt urges to be controlled:-()seems not to be your information/suggestion
about Johannes Balthasar Toscani and Amsterdam, abt. 1794.
The LeRoux researcher showed me Carolina Toscani and Le Roux coming from Germany (Muhlhausen), Carolina having
been married before, widowed 2 daughters, died.
He told he'd been working with an other LeRoux researcher who mainly had been searching for Carolina and the Toscanis.
Problem though is that man died. I've tried his children several times already, knowing from their mother they do have all his
notes kept, no result till now though.
Your message might be a good moment to try again. Who knows.
What I understood though, is that research was based on
Carolina having been a daughter of a Toscani, actor at Habsburg court.
Just give me a few days to dig in my papers, to find more on that and report back on you.
Since I'm in Amsterdam, where are you writing from? In case wished for I'll be glad to
give you a hand by searching in Amsterdam.
I'm very curious what and how you came across Carolina Tosani already.
How about using each others direct email though?
Seems far easier as writing in this little screen where I cannot even see my own message :-)
My email adres is inezschade@hotmail.com.

Hi Pat, you probably would be surprised to see the amount of Italians in "Dutch" families esp. since ab. 1770.
Though this Toscani family probably was a different kind, not the real poor emigrants, in my
(German immigrant)family, apart from the Toscani, I found 2 more Italian families.
greetings from Amsterdam to you as well.

Dear Inez,
It was good to hear from you. My husband was trying to locate information re: his family. Problem is - he has no other information aside from his parents name and place of birth. We assume his grandparents are from Italy but were wondering if there were other Toscanis here in the United States that may, in some way, have heard of his father and be able to give us a starting point trying to locate relations.
Glad you responded and great to hear from someone on the other side of the world. Warm wishes to you and your family.
Pat.
