hi Ben
I also live in Brisbane out near Ipswich, there are a few or us about around here and my own family came to Ipswich sometime before 1851, my great great grand parents were Edward and Mary Toohill, does this coincide with your own family tree? I don't have anything prior to that but suspect Edward and Mary migrated from Ireland. If you want to know anything more you can contact me at kingblur@hotmail.com

Hi maranbaz, as far as I know John and his brother Edward came to fassifern back in the 1850s. My line descends from Edward while yours from Johns side. You seem to know alot more about our mutual family trees than my side does. Would it be possible to perhaps pick your brain at some stage and find out more about Johns branch? my email is kingblur@hotmail.com
look forward to hearing from you.

Sean, it seems I may have confused you, My Grandfather John Toohill was a son of Edward and Mary Toohill. I didn't know there was another John that arrived in Australia with Edward Toohill. All I know is that Mary & Edward Toohill were married at St Mary's Cathedral, Sydney, NSW ,21st April, 1854. I have found Mary's maiden name to be in question such as (McCrann McCrown McCreign McRein). They had 9 children, Catherine, John(deceased infant), Daniel, Edward, John(my grandfather), Mary Ann, Cecilia, & James Patrick.

hi maranbaz, me again, well as luck would have it James Patrick is my great grandfather so it would appear I have confused you, sorry. My biggest problem is that we know James Patricks name and thats about it, no one knows about his siblings or even when/where he was born.
We too came across the different McCrann(?) names which added to my confusion, and there seems to be Edwards, Johns and James names in about every generation.
We knew Edward and Mary were mixed up in there but weren't sure how. So thanks to you we now know how many brothers and sisters JPs had and their names. Would still very much like to pick your brain over what else you know.

Hi there, I can add a little to your information:

my mother is Claire Toohill, now living in Virginia, USA, near Washington DC. She along with her four sisters are the daughters of Daniel Toohill and his wife, Mary. Either Daniel or his father of the same name had immigrated to Australia from County Cork, Ireland. My mother grew up in Yantabulla and in Brisbane. Daniel was a drover and Light Horse soldier in WWI. He was a well-known horse trainer. He died when Mom was about 12, and Mary moved the children to Brisbane where she had family. Mom's living sisters and their children are still in Brisbane and other parts of Australia.
Hope you find this interesting and please feel free to contact me if you like.

Kathleen

Hey Maranban,
James Patrick is my great great grand father. I would be very grateful if you could provide me with any information on Johns sons and his daughter as well as there children and would be really really really grateful if you could tell me anything about Edward and Honorah descendants.
Thanks

hello cousins Kathleen and Danelle
Your Daniel Toohill is the same one thats in my family tree, I finally found evidence that he was one of Edward and Marys sons, the same as my great grandfather. Sorry to say that your great grandfather Daniel was born in Australia, his father Edward was born in Ireland and immigrated sometime in the 1840s to Australia and eventually Moreton Bay. He arrived in Australia or Moreton Bay on the ship 'Panama'.
What I would be very thankful for is if you could tell me more about your lines and what you know about exactly where the family came from in Ireland
Cheers and Thanks
