Speculating on whether these are two forms of the same name in North Tipperary.

I have the same inquiry
My great grandmother was Elizabeth Tooher (Tower) and was from High St in Tipperary. She married a Joseph Patrick Egan (b.17 Mar 1869 in Ireland)in NY. they had several children including Benedict, Catherine, Ellen (my grandmother born 1903 in Brooklyn, NY), Susan and ohters.I have never been able to trace Elizabeth Tooher or Tower.
Have you found any answers on your inquiry?

I have wondered this as well, altho there is a Towers family in North Tipperary.

My great-great grandmother was Elizabeth Towers of Eglish RC and civil parishes, County Kings, now Offaly. It is near Birr and near the border with North Tipperary. She was born about 1820, married Michael Herrick in same parish in 1841. Six children baptized in the parish.

The name Towers appears in the parish baptismal and civil records--Tithe Applotments and Griffith's. But the same family has various spellings including Tool and Tooher tho Towers is usual.

Would be glad of any updates on this. My family also immigrated to NYC in the mid-19c. Towers appears on all the death certs.
