I am looking for any leads on a Melony Toogood born about 1865 in London, England and married a William Unwin. They moved to Canada at the turn of the century. Her father's name was Richard Toogood. Any info would be helpful.

HellOoooooo...we are distant cousins! I come down the Frederick Unwin line, son of William & Melony. My father was Frederick Harry William Unwin. His sister was Doris Melony Unwin. Both born in Calcutta India. I remember Uncle Larry, knew of Uncle Val & Aunt Daisy but never met them. William & Harry who were lost in WWI are listed in the Book of Remembrance on Parliament Hill, in fact I just went to the Veterans Affairs Site and found their names there as well as Newspaper Articles regarding the MIA of Will and death of Harry...they included a picture of Will and picture of Harry's Gravesite. I heard through the family tree and the book " The War Works of Lennox & Addington" Found in Napanee Historical Society, copies still available, that your Grandfather took Will's loss so hard that he was medically dispatched but re-enlisted a year later as a Private and went back. My grandfather Frederick...nick-named Jimmy carried shrapnel from WWI in his spine until he died in1941 as an eventual result of those wounds...he really WAS wounded in the Dardenelles!, I am living just east of Lacombe Alberta now...please contact me.

So sorry this has taken so long to respond. My account hasn't been working for a bit. The Unwin's are actually my wife's family through her dad. Her grandfather was Victor Unwin. Her dad is Larry as well. Very interesting information you have. My mother-in-law was in Belgium a few years back and took a photo of Will's name on the Menin Gates. I had some newspaper clippings from the paper in Capreol after Harry died.

Hi,
Sorry for being so tardy. I've had connection issues with the Ancestry. My wife is the grandaughter of Victor, brother of Valentine.

That's nice to hear. I am now in touch with Jennifer which is the granddaughter of Frederick, Victors and Valentines brother. I would like to get to know her as my father and grandfather didn't talk much about family. I believe that your wife's mother came to Toronto a while back and met my father and mother. Val and Loretta are there names.

Staying in touch would be great. We do not have much contact outside of the immediate descendants of Victor. My father-in-law talks about his Uncle Larry and Val I believe but it has been a very long time. He had the First World War commemorations of Will and Harry and just over 10 years ago sent them to his brother Bill out in Victoria.

I would like to compare what little notes i have with your many notes.val Sr. passed away in the 80' and Val Jr. passed away in 2006. Dad was 81 and grandad was 87 when he passed. I look forward to end questions and if I can answer I would love to. Is your father in law still alive or even your mother in law?
