TONDERA-John S. Tondera, 57, Tuesday (December 10, 1985) suddenly. He was a lifelong resident of North Tonawanda and was retired from the U.S. Navy as a Yeoman First Class after 20 years of service. He was stationed at the Porter Ave. Naval Reserve Center in Buffalo, NY. Mr. Tondera was formerly employed with the security force of Clastan Corp. of Cheektowaga for 14 years. He was a member of the Amvets Post #1946 and was the brother of the late Matthew Tondera and his late twin sister, Florence Smist.
He is survived by his wife, Mary (nee Tomaszewski) Tondera of North Tonawanda; two daughters, Mrs. Allen (Susan) Brown of Florida and Karen Tondera of Kenmore; two sons, Gary (Joanne) Tondera of Grand Island and Paul Tondera of Florida; two sisters, Mrs. Leonard (Helen) Damiano of Albany and Mrs. Ernest (Mary) Chank of North Tonawanda; two brothers, Anthony Tondera of Olcott and Alphonse (Harolyn) Tondera of Gasport; his sister-in-law, Mrs. Dorothy Tondera of Buffalo and brother-in-law, Felix Smist of North Tonawanda. Also several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Larango-Colucci Funeral Home, Oliver St. at Fifth Ave. in North Tonawanda where funeral services will be held Friday at 9:30 a.m. and in St. Joseph's R.C. Church at 10 a.m. Entombment Holy Family Chapel Mausoleum, Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Prayer service 7 p.m. Thursday evening.
