Hi there! I've been going through the messages tagged "tokar", and a lot of them mention "George Tokar"s.
George is a common name, I know, but I was wondering if anyone can offer me any leads on a "George Tucker [Tokar]" born in the "coal region" of Pennsylvania around the year 1910.

Sorry the details are fuzzy, but my father can't seem to remember much about his father, most likely because he never spoke about his roots. (It's very obvious, considering I don't even know what my ethnicity is.) I can try to clarify a year and place of birth if I remember to pick my father's brain.

Oh, and I believe that he was first-generation, and married an "Anne Yuhas". If that helps...

Hi,
Sorry, can't help with George, but our family of Tokars came from the village of Ispas, Bukovina, W. Ukraine. Many of the folk from Ispas, Ukraine, settled in Ispas, Alberta, Canada.
My Dad, Peter, later moved to the west coast, while many of his brothers setttled in Winnipeg, changing the spelling to Toker.
Not much to go on, but I hope it offers some clarity.
Regards
Sharon Tokar
