My name is Oliver J. Toigo III, My great grandfathers name was Olivo Toigo, who emigrated from Arten (Veneto) Italy to the Beneld IL area in the 1920's. Perhaps we share some ancestry from that area. I have very little information to go on from the old country, perhaps you know of any resources for searching down names in this area of the world. Any help would be appreciated.

My mothers maiden name was Toigo. She was the daughter of Avinere Toigo, born to parents who emigrated to Benld Ill. and worked as coal miners. I remember an Oliver Toigo being mentioned as I grew up and in trips to visit relatives to Ill. I know that my grandfather's parents were from Italy but I am not sure if others of their family also immigrated to Benld. I sure they were related to your family.

I was interested in specifically when the Toigo's came to Brazil and if you know what part of Italy they came from. Also what was the name of original family member emigrating to Brazil. Thanks

Andre,
It sounds like the same family tree as mine. My family first settled in Pennsylvania in a coal mining town and later relocated to Benld Illinois as coal miners. My grandfather graduated from high school and played football with a team that later went on to be the Chicago Bears. His brother Adolph went to a college and later acquire the Lennon and Newell advertising agency in New York city. He went on to become quite successful and was a millionaire at one point and socialized with many of his clients including Lawrence Welk. My grandfather, Avinere, worked with his brother and lived on 5th Avenue and had a home in Forest Hills. He later retired and lived quite well on investments that his wife had made. He died of Alzheimers disease. When did your family settle in Brazil?
