Looking for Patrick Toher, born in Ireland in July of 1864. Probably emigrated to USA in the 1880's. Married my grandmother Martha Jamieson (Jamison) of New York City approximately 1890. Had four children, Patrick, Martha, William and Bernard. I am pretty sure he worked on the Hudson Tube construction because he had the "bends" which he probably died from. They were separated at the time of his death so I do not know where he is buried. Any information would be much appreciated.

My great great great grandfather was Patrick Toher and he was born in 1810 in Ireland. He had a number of children, including my great great grand father Owen. It is my understanding that the Patrick-Owen name was to pass each generation, and thus my great grandfather was Patrick Toher.

Owen had many brother and sisters including a Patrick born +/- 1862 in Ireland. This date ties to the Patrick you are asking about.

It seems the entire Patrick Toher (1810) family immigrated some time in the early to mid 1860's.

How were you able to track back to Sligo Ireland?

My grandfather Patrick Toher was a sand hog out of New Jersey. They lived in North Bergen, NJ in 1900. He was a lamp trimmer. He got the bends which made people think he was a drunk. He and my grandmother were separated and in the 1910 census she states that she is widowed.

When I went to Ireland about 7 years ago, in Sligo City there was a Toher' pharmacy. People there said there were
Toher's in Sligo.

We were not told very much about anything and it was not until I started searching that I found anyting.

Is this the same Patrick and Margaret Tucker Toher family from the Bronx? circa 1870-1951?
