Edward Toghill Died in 1888

Surnames: Toghill, Cambourne
Hello everybody

I was after some real help if possible.

We never knew my great Grandad Edward Toghill due to his young death in a shooting accident. We grew up believing Toghill's were few and far between (deluded!!)

My great aunty Joan is the last Toghill from Edward Toghill alive and she is now 90! She has recently said how she would have loved to have seen a photo of him before he died.

I realise due to his untimely death, there might not be one... But wondered if anybody from this branch of the Toghill tree - Moses Toghill b1815 d1886- George Toghill b1843 d1925 had any picture of any of the males, especially any of Edwards brothers as I would persume they looked similar!? His siblings are;
amelia, clement, william henry, mary ann, and worthy.
And his mother was Letticia Cambourne

I know william henry and mary ann were witness;s at his wedding.

Any help would be wonderful

Thank you so much

Hello, Moses Toghill (1815) was my great great grandfather, his son Joseph who married Harriett Anstee was my great granfather, his son Edgar married Ellen Clancy.
I have been researching and linking the Toghill family tree for a number of months and have met up with lots of new family members. You are welcome to any information that I have to help your investigations.
You do not indicate where you are from, we will be holding a Toghill family gathering shortly 11/12 October outside Bath England and would welcome you or any input you could contribute.
You can contact me via this site or at alun_toghill@yahoo.com.
If you want to see other Toghill family members you can log onto Facebook where I have Family page and photographs of local villages where family originated.

Hi thanks for messaging back. Would love to attend but I am based in Manchester so it might be difficult but please keep me posted! Have you got any photos of Moses or Joesph? We are desperate to know what our George & Edward look like! My grandad never knew his dad, so it would be really nice to learn more about what the Toghills were like as people. I have quite alot of them on the tree; but know very little about what they were like - were they drinkers, polite, violent etc?

I have joined the group on FB, but can't seem to see the pictures of the area?

Thanks for your help!

Have photo of Moses and Mary taken at Washpool cottage. Have you found my Facebook page, if u have request add as friend and then u can see albums.
Toghill's were hard working agricultural family who worked on farms to the north of Bath. My great grandfather Joseph, Georges brother, moved to Taffs Well as a shoemaker/ cobbler to join other cousins in the area.
I have found Edward 1864 who died the same year his son Edward was born. Was he the one killed in shooting accident?
My tree is open to you if you want to explore.
The meeting on the 11/12 is at the Toghill House Farm just off j18 m4. we will be there Saturday and Sunday morning and then possible touring some villages on way home.
If you cannot make it I will keep in touch and let you have any new info.

A picture would be great. Do you have any of joesph? Ive got my daughter to add you to facebook, as she uses it 24/7! It would be great to do a meet, do you do them regularly?

Yes my edward did die in the shooting accident. His son also edward was raised in Newport, Wales - not far from you guys! His daughters were also all from Newport and largely remained there, although my mother Marjorie Toghill moved to Manchester when she met my Dad - which is why I'm based up here! Joan Toghill, is still alive and lives in the priory care home in Llandogo near Tintern in Monmouthshire - but she is the last one of our bunch - the trouble with having girls!

do you have email and i will post photo to you. You can see them on my tree i think. Toghill Clancy Protheroe et al.
There were number of Toghill in Magor and Newport maybe thats why Edward and his family moved there. Trying to get link to join them up, same as family up in the Rhondda. Easier linking family in Us and Australia.

Hello yes my email is s.williamson480@ntlworld.com
I can't seem to view your tree maybe I need to be invited? I can invite you to view mine also if you would like!

Yes my family were based around magor and maindee - although I dont think the Edward Toghill who died in the shooting accident ever went there, as my grandfathers mother, Elizabeth Wood, who married him was working as a servant in Bath so I would guess that is how they met!

Hello Sally, been having fun integrating your family into our tree. I don't have photo of Joseph yet but I am working on it.
Maybe I will be able to get photo at gathering on 11th. I am working on family web site where i hope to eventually link up all Toghill and extended families.
If you get the chance look up Mitchells of Tetbury site, fantastic family site with some Toghills included.
Your tree has answered a number of questions over the Newport Toghill and I have loads of leads to investigate.
I have sent invitation to you to see Toghill Clancy Sampson Protheroe tree.
I type so fast that I then spend next ten minutes correcting spelling, typing and grammar, please excuse any mistakes.
my email is alun_toghill@yahoo.com. all contact detail are on facebook. Please join Toghill, Gathering of the clan as our group within facebook.
Please let me know how you got on with my tree and if there is any further help I can give.
