Hi Gerald,
I'm delighted to hear from you! I noticed that the post you replied to was from 2005! It is quite coincidental that I just started working--and making a lor of progress--on the Toghill line in the past couple of months!
This is actually my husband's mother's family. You and my mother-in-law would be first cousins once rmoved (her mother would be your first cousin.
My husband's line is through Charles Henry Toghill's sister, Annie Louisa, who married Sidney Owen Gouldsmith and had three daughters: Nancy 1911 , Kathleen (Kay) and Lillian (Billie). I believe Kay is still alive in the London area. Nancy died in Canada in 2004. My mother-in law lives here in the US in Kentucky.
I have found, thanks to an online index to New Zealand vital records, that Charles Henry and Annie Louisa's father's given name is Edward, not Charles. Edward is used consistently on all of the children's birth records. I had the name Charles from a paper my husband's grandmother, Nancy, had written for him many years ago. She had only one other error, it was again a first name--Robert Broad. I have found through census research that this individual should be Samuel Broad and his son is Robert. MInor details!
I would love to correspond with you more on the Toghills, and try and fill in as much current family for each other as we can. I have found a wealth of information going back many years thanks to another gentleman, and various online trees and sources. Some of it is of course contradictory, but that is always the case. At any rate, feel free to contact me at jonella
59@hotmail.com. It probably isn't the most polite thing to put everything I know about my living inlaws on here for the whole world to see!
I'm looking forward to hearing from you!
Joni
