My great-grandfather was Darias (Darius) Alvin Bruner, born in Canada about 1857. He married Sarah Jane Tofflemire, daughter of Samuel Findley Tofflemire and Salomi Celie Tripp. Sarah Jane was born 12 Dec 1850 in Illinois. Does anyone have any information about Darius? I can't seem to find out who his parents were. I know he moved to Illinois and then to Delhi, Minnesota. His children were my grandmother Stella Salome (m. Arthur Carbert), Samuel Floyd (m. Janet McTavish), Alvin Clark, Sarah Elizabeth (m. Jackson), and Hugh C.

My grandfather was Samuel Floyd Bruner and just felt I should send you a message. Grandpa was born in Illinois on Nov. 2, 1883 and passed on Oct. 30, 1970. He is resting in the cementry at Saltcoats, Saskatchewan. There is also a D. A. Bruner 1856 - 1935 buried there. We do have a family tree done up the the 1950's but nothing since. Uncle Garvin Bruner is living is Victoria, B.C. but don't know how much he knows about the family. Hope this bit of information can help you in your search as I am trying to work on my Dad's side of the family now.

Hello Cousin! We are second cousins: your grandfather and my grandmother, Stella Salome Bruner, were brother and sister. I have a Bruner-Tofflemire tree on Ancestry.com that I would like to invite you to see, and help me fill in blanks. I believe the D.A. Bruner tombstone is that of our great-grandfather, Darius Alvin Bruner, and next to him is a Jane Bruner. I think she is his wife, our great- grandmother, Sarah Jane Tofflemire. I know Floyd had 12 kids. Do you have all their names and dates? Also, have you ever heard of a second marriage for Darius after Jane's death? You can contact me directly at kallengs@frontiernet.net. I did not know about a 1950s Bruner family tree. Do you have a copy? I am so happy to hear from you! I have pictures, too, and am more than happy to share.

I would be interested in researching this for you as I live in Essex County and within a short drive of where the BRUNER families lived and are buried...surprising enough, although I have MANY BRUNERs in my database and I have Sarah's father in my database, but not Sarah or Darius.

Paul.
