Hi...at one time I was married to a Tofanelli in the Boston area.My former mother-in-law said her husbands family all came from Lucci, Torre .De Largo in Italy

Hello! Yes, Most Italians are "originally" from Torre del Laggo...in the beautiful Tuscany region. My great grandfather was from there and from what I understand...almost the majority of people there are Tofanelli's....I've never been there, but I've seen photos and would love to go for a visit...and its home to that marvelous Chianti wine! My family came from that town. I'm not sure of the spelling but I was told that all the Tofanelli's originated from there. Torre Del Lago, Lucca, Italy.

I had contacted Andrea Tofanelli , a famous Italian Jazz trumpet player, and he was able to confirm that most Tofanelli families are indeed mostly from theTorre Del Largo. area He is a very warm and nice man so if you think you may be related - look him up on the web and email him and ask. He is gracious enough to reply.

Wow.. This is pretty cool. I have always wondered about where my last name came from. And what is even more cool in a weird sort of way is that the person that started this thread has the last name of Bilski which is my Aunt's last name (My Father's sister) whom was Tofanelli before she married into Bilski...

I've contacted Andrea Tofanelli also (a few years ago). He is very nice...and patient with his American relatives! I wonder how many of us have emailed him?

Thanks for all the info, everyone! Anyone here related to either Eufrosina Tofanelli or Ines Rigali Tofanelli?

Just to confirm what everyone else has said, that the Tofanelli name did come from Torre del Lago, Puccini in the Lucca region. My mother was born there (and is a Tofanelli) and what's funny is when you open the phone book in the town, it's ALL Tofanelli's! If you get a chance, please go. We try to go back every few years, it's nice to connect to your roots!
