Hello. I married into the Toder family 4 years ago and I am curious about the history of the Toder name. So far I gather that the name is originally from Austria. Please share what you may know about the Toder name. Thanks.

Hello Carol! We´re also curious about our surname. the only thing we found out was that Toder is originally a Jewish name. And btw, we´re from Austria.

Dear Lissy, thank you for your response! I had wondered about the Jewish relationship to the Toder name. I noticed it was on some Russian Jewish name lists. But I didn't know whether the name was originally Jewish, or if it was absorbed by the Jewish religion. Do you know for sure? Do you still live in Austria? I think it is so interesting to discover the lives of our ancestors. My in-laws don't seem interested in all, but my husband, James Toder, is curious like me. We live in Michigan! Sincerely, Carol

My grandmother and grandfather came from eastern Europe. I believe my grandmother was from Austria and my grandfather was from Romania/Russia. I have more information but need some confirmation/feeling that I am dealing with one sincerely interested in the Toder line.

I am researching Toders from Galicia. Any possible connection?

I'm looking for information on the Toders. My great grandfather was Thomas Toder who came from a village called Schofferei (Schafferei?) which I believe is now called Ovcarna near Ceske Budejovice in what is now the Czech Republic. He was born in1860 and his parents were Mathis Toder and Therese Schwab. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Nancy

Hi, i ran into your massage from a few years ago. i'm looking for some details about Toder family from Galicia As well. did you find anything back then?
|
I'm researching Faivel and Golda Toder and children from Malinowka near Besko. Several of the children emigrated: US, France, Brazil. It's on the northern edge of the Carpathian Mountains in far southeastern Poland near the Slovakian border. I believe Faivel had a brother Joseph.
