IRish and Scottish Todd DNA

IRish and Scottish Todd DNA

Hi folks,
The Irish and Scottish Todd DNA project reached an important milestone yesterday. WE have successfully interested 9 families with known origin location in Ireland and 9 familes with know origin location in Scotland to participate in the DNA study. By December we should have results and by January 2011 we should have a final report.

This will tell American Todds where there were Todds in Ireland and Scotland with the same DNA pattern. Hopefully this will answer questions about origins that have puzzled Todd family historians for many decades.

The preliminary results have shown where the Mary Todd Lincoln group of Todds DNA pattern existed in Ireland and where the Russell Co and Washington Co VA families' DNA pattern existed in Ireland.

This is very interesting. My mother is a Todd and traced our family history back to two brothers that immirated from Scotland. We have always belived we were "Scott-Irish" based on her research. That is, the Todd lineage were transplanted irishmen to Scottland. From the two brothers, Mary Todd Linclon was ultimately (many, many years later) born.

I will watch your posts with interest.

I have been researching the Todd family tree and found some very interesting information. Our blood line is connected with that of Mary Todd as well. It will be interesting to see what the DNA information will confirm. If anyone is interested pls contact me regarding Todd family tree at copelandjake@hotmail.com

Hi Scott,
Could you share anything about your Todd family lineage?

Richard,

My paternal line is Todd. From what I know, this is a group that settled in Arkansas and I have documentation that my grandfather was known as Will Todd (m. Bertha V Rogers) and that my great grandfather was AJ Todd (m. Minnie J Collier). This is where my documentation ends. Since my research has led me to believe that the bloodline does desend from Ireland through Scottland, I'd be interested in seeing the research results. If anyone out there has further information that can help, I'd be grateful for the help.
Thanks,
Paula

Hi Paula,
Sometimes when you post information about your family, it is a good idea to post also the dates and the names of counties and the times they were in those counties. This makes it easier for people to be helpful.
