I've been collecting quite a bit of information lately, actually. From what I have put together, it does appear that both your and my MANGOGNA-TODARO couples were brothers and sisters.

The TODARO line comes from Poggioreale, Trapani, Sicily. Andrea TODARO and Anna FALSONE were apparently the parents of both Vittorio (Victor) b.1851 and Giuseppe (Joseph) TODARO b.1858 in Poggioreale. They are said to have been the first and fifth children of this couple, though I have not yet gotten the names of their siblings.

The MANGOGNA line also comes from Poggioreale, Trapani, Sicily. Giuseppe (Joseph) MANGOGNA and Antonia MESSINA were the parents of both my Antonina and your Paola/Pauline. I have an 1880 census that is probably the MANGOGNA family in New Orleans with both the girls (5 children in all). [The children are listed as Antonia (my line), Gaetano (girl), Paula (your line), Antonia (Lena), and boy Andrea (probably Henry).] I have some info on Lena and Henry, but will save that for another time. I have also gotten in touch recently with a descendant of Lena.

We think Vittorio came to the US around 1880, and I have naturalization info that shows what may be him naturalized in 1891 in Dallas, TX.

Vittorio (Victor) TODARO and Antonina (Antoinette) MANGOGNA married in New Orleans in 1881, were in Dallas in 1888 when their son Henry was born, then back in Louisiana in Caddo Parish (Shreveport) by 1917 where most of the family remained.

Your Giuseppe (Joseph) TODARO and Paola (Paula/Pauline) MANGOGNA were married about 1885. By 1900 they were in Corsicana, Navarro Co., TX with 4 daughters (Anna/Annie, Lena/Lelia/Lillian, Beatrice/Bena/Bennita and Rosalie).
[Navarro County, TX is only about 3 counties north of Brazos Co., where Bryan, TX is located]

Lena/Lillian was married about 1904/05 to Joseph Cannizzaro, and must have been visiting her parents when they were enumerated in the 1910 census in New Orleans, as she's listed with them at their home on Josephine Street AND also with her husband and children on Soraparu Street, New Orleans. Joseph & Lillian's children listed in 1910 were Beatrice/Bennita, Joseph, Lillian, and Pauline.

Not sure what happened to Joseph TODARO. The 1920 census shows Pauline living in New Orleans with three of her daughters - Anna, Beatrice and Rosalie - and it says she is married, but Joseph is not in the household. Her daughter Lillian is still in New Orleans with her husband Joseph Cannizzaro and they have a housefull - Benetha/Beatrice, Joseph, Pauline, Marie, Annette, Leon and John are listed as their children. Joseph Cannizzaro was a shoemaker. By 1930, the Cannizzaro couple have added Jenna (or Anna) and Rose to their brood, and the family is still living in New Orleans, although they apparently moved several times over the years. In 1940 they are still in New Orleans, still with 8 of their kids unmarried and living at home.

Lillian's sister Anna TODARO finally married, to William Caire, and in 1930 they are in New Orleans with two daughters, Dorothy and Rita. By 1940 they have a son, A.W., and the girls are gone, possibly married by then.

Pauline Mangogna Todaro was probably born about 1871, and died 1 Apr 1928. She is buried in Greenwood Cemetery, New Orleans in the Cannizzaro plot. Her daughter Beatrice apparently died unmarried in 1968.

MOST of this information seems to be pretty well documented through census records and such. I have either text or electronic copies of all the records I have found so far.

I just found out my Great Grandfathers Mother. Lucia Todaro.

She was born and died in Corleone. I know she just had one kid...Antonio. Her husband was Mariano DiMiceli. He was also born and died in Corleone. I hope people can help me with anything...especially how many kids they had. Antonio was born around 1861 or so in Corleone. We think he died around 1925 in Fanwood, NJ.

Thanks!!!
