Cath I do not think there is a connection but I cant be sure my James Tod was born in Edinburgh but moved to Wakefield in Yorkshire. His father was called James and he was a baker His mother was called Ann Sanders.I have been unable to trace any brothers or sisters up to now.James Tod is quite a common name around Edinburgh so there may be a connection somewhere along the line.Sorry I couldnt be more helpful.By the way if you are a Tod apparently you are part of the Gordon Clan.Lynda

Angela,

Not sure if you are still posting, I am interested in your posting, especially James Todd. I was wondering if you might have a little more information about him, I am stuck on my Tod's.

What I do know is that the Todd, Walker, Turnbull and Sandeman families appear to intermarry consistently. They meet up with my Bain and bell line, and tehre are another number of cross overs.

They all seem to have been Merchant class out of Glasgow and have been assocaited with teh Church. I know the Sandeman link is linked to the Glasite church and it through our bain/todd/french/witherspoon/walker link that we are descended the John Knox...

I know there are more links than I can find. Do you have a John Tod (married Christian Walker) in your line as well.

Also, I would love to find out a little more about your John Sandeman - particularly his parents.

Hi Lyn

I am looking for Tod/Todd families who went to NZ in the 1890's and early 1900's from Perthshire Scotland or Yorkshire or Devon. Do you have any info?

Hi, Lyn - are you still researching your Tods from Edinburgh? I'm finding it a real mystery! Some of them seem to be writers to the signet, and a lot of them seem to marry their cousins! I'm trying to find out, specifically about Janet tod born 1797, and never married. There seems to be, as well, a bryce involvement - have you any further information?
