I am also seeking information on my family. My father's mother was Angelina Josephine Tocco daughter to a Salvatore Tocco, my grandmother was born in Terrisini in 1921 and would have been at least 6 yo when she immigrated and I know she was held in quanentine because of the measles (story she told often) at Ellis Island, her mothers family name was Viviano which is also a popular name,I have had great trouble locating records. Any additional insight would be wonderful.

Re: Tocco Family, Sicily to St. Louis to San Diego
Hello, I am enjoying reading all of the replies to this post. I, too, am from the Tocco family, but we are in Seattle. There were a set of cousins—the Toccos and Santuccis that immigrated here from Italy in the late 1800's. My great grandfather was Alfonso Tocco ( married Filomena Irdi ) and had five other siblings. They were born in Roccacinquemiglia, Italy—in Abruzzo. I have been to the town to search for relatives and records. I have been able to trace the family back only one more generation to Pietro Pasquale Tocco who married Madeline Filomena Rucci.
As I've read through the later posts I see a lot of the history and family members come from the Abruzzo region. I am hoping to be able to connect some leaves on these family trees.
I am logged in under my husband's account info, but my name is Kellie. I would love to email with anyone who has any interest in trying to connect some more dots and share some family stories. Thanks!

Re: Tocco Family, Sicily to St. Louis to San Diego
Joe: Enjoyed reading your post. I have been researching my Tocco family(pronounced with a long O) for over 15 years. My Great Grandparents and 3 cgildren emigrated to the US in 1887 from Palena,Chieti,Abruzzi Italy. They settled in Yonkers,NY where some Tocco's remain today. Palena is about 2 hrs east of Rome in the Aventino Valley. Tocco was somewhat of a common name in that area. I have met many Tocco's in Ohio and Michigan and St Louis who's families emigrated from Sicily. I have been unable to establish any family links bewteen Palena and Sicily.I do have Tocco relatives from Yonkers that live just south of Los Anfeles. Francis Tocco Ballston Lake,NY

Hello. I am Delores Viviano. My g-grandfather was Gandolfo Viviano from Polizzi Generosa, Palermo, Sicily, Italy. From what I know from my family he was one of seven brothers. One of his brothers was Giuseppe Viviano. I do not know their father's name. Gandolfo and Giuseppe both immigrated thru Ellis Island and settled in New Jersey and raised their families. Gandolfo was born 1844; died 1946 in Paterson NJ.
My grandfather was Santi Viviano, a son of Gandolfo. When I was in Polizzi Generosa a few years ago I was able to get a copy of Santi's birth certificate. His father Gandolfo and his mother's names were on the certificate. His mother was Alessi Gandolfa Russo.
Regarding Giuseppe - he was born about 1852. His first wife was Rosa Alfano. Their daughter was Grazia Viviano who married Filippo Tocco. Grazia was born 27 Oct 1874; died 26 Jan 1936 in Michigan, United States. After Rosa died he remarried.
Regarding your post above, I have a Vincenzo Tocco and Giacomo in my tree.
I have not been able to locate the name of Gandolfo and Giuseppe's father and mother in Italy.
Would be happy to hear from you.
