The Tocci Family of Santo Donato originated in Milan, Italy in the year 1282. It had enjoyed nobility life for many years in Barletta, Givonatzo and Cotrone. (To clarify the scripture of the Coat of Arms, Italy at that time was under Spanish rule, and in the city of Naples was the province of Capuano which was the seat of government and was an important part of the Roman Empire during the rule of Isabella D'Arogona of Spain).

It was in Bari, which was the capitol of the Province of Puglie, that the Tocci family later settled. A Signiore Antonello Tocci contracted a matrimonial affair with the Bonazzi Royal Family. He then came into possession of large tracts of land and was an overloard of Belcastro and Roccosecca.

Signiore Antonello Tocci became master of Sannicandro and was also Aide to the Duke of Calabria and General Administrator of all the property and collected taxes and revenue from the people under his jurisdiction.

In 1491 he was headmaster of the Castile di Ovo De Napoli which is, today still one of the most beautiful castles of all the world. This castle is so named because of its egg shape.

It was here in Naples that Signiore Antonello Tocci proved himself a valuable leader by defending this Castile di Ovo against invading French Armies.
Because of his achievements Signiore Antonello was promoted to Ambasadore to the Court of Venice. In the Court of Venice he was most successful in possessing Nole which was quite a large portion of the country. With this transaction, he was again promoted to Maggiardomo (Major Domo) of Queen Isabella D'Arogona of Spain. This title made Signiore Antonello the man who conducted all affairs of State for Queen Isabella.

The above information was attained from the Vatican Library.

I was under the impression the Tocci family had gone extinct, around the 16th century.

Tocci is a common surrname distributed through out Italy, do all Tocci's descend from this family? Is there a progenitor?
Here is the distribution

Is it possible that a few family members's influence led to namesakes around the country? Such as towns and/or places? And the surrname is adopted through that? There is a Tocci city in Calabria.

Are there records of the descendants of the Tocci family, that link this Tocci, to any Tocci born post 1700?
