Ancestors of Frances Edith Toalson Milam
I am attempting to begin a study of the Toalson family. We know that our heritage came by way of Georgia into Texas..settling in the area of Pearsall Texas ..and scattering from there..My grandfather was George Fount Toalson..born 1880-1885...I know he had a brother named Quinton...and also some half brothers as his father died and the mother remarried...just getting started...so any help would be appreciated

Vernon, Correction: Your grandfather's name was George Fountain Toalson. He was born on October 6, 1881 in Atlanta, Georgia. His older brothers were John Quinton Toalson, born in Georgia on December 28, 1876, and James Andrew Toalson, born in Medina County, Texas on September 25, 1878. Their sister was Maude Bessie Toalson Malone, born in Travis County, Texas on October 24, 1883.

ALSO THE NAME IS GEORGE FOUNT(NOT FOUNTAIN)..I ALSO CARRY THAT NAME....AND WHERE ARE YOU LOCATED COUSIN? THANKS A LOT,,,I WAS RAISED VISITING UNCLE QUINTON AND AUNT MAUDE...THEY LIVED NEXT DOOR TO EACH OTHER..WE PLAYED WASHERS EVERY SUNDAY AT UNCLE QUINTONS....QUINTON AND GEORGE MARRIED SISTERS....MABEL AND LAURA MEDFORD....BUT BACK THEN...FAMILY HISTORY WAS OF NO IMPORTANCE...AND OF COURSE ALL THE OLD FOLKS ARE GONE NOW...AGAIN THANKS...IF YOU WANT INFO ON SOME OF THE NEXT GENERATION...LET ME KNOW....

Vernon, I am George's daughter, and I have some additional information on the Toalson/Medford line. Some of the information on the Medford side is quite extensive. I am still searching for additional information on the Toalson side of the family. Annie's maiden name was Wallace and she is buried in the Pearsall Cemetery as "Annie W. Little". Green(e) is buried in Sand Hollow Cemetery although his headstone is no longer there. Levi and Mary Frances (Galloway) Medford are also buried in Sand Hollow Cemetery. There is a stone for Isham Medford in Sand Hollow, but this is Levi's brother Isom, not his father Isham, who died in or near Rusk, Tx. You may contact me via e-mail if you would like for me to send you any copies of what information I have.
Happy Hunting!

HI KATHY, THANKS FOR THE INFO , AND YES ANYTHING ELSE YOU HAVE I WOULD APPRECIATE. ONE THING YOU INDICATE ABOUT WILLIM LEVI MEDFORD MAY OR MAY NOIT BE TRUE. IS THERE A HEADSTONE IN SAND HOLLOW FOR WILLIAM LEVI? RECORDS INDICATE HE WAS BURIED IN THE BIGFOOT CEMETERY, HOWEVER, I DO NOT KNOW FOR SURE. I WENT TO THE BIGFOOT CEMETERY BUT FOUND NOTHING THAT WOULD HELP MY SEARCH. MOTHER,FRANCES TOALSON MILAM, WAS SURE HE WAS BURIED THERE. I KNEW GRANDMA LITTLE WAS BURIED IN PEARSALL AS I WAS OLD ENOUGH TO REMEMBER HER WELL. HAVE YOU ANY IDEA AS TO WHY GREEN IS SHOWN IN SOME RECORDS AS MARRIED TO A JENNIE STAPLETON? MY GRANDFTHER, GEORGE F. WAS BORN IN GEORGIA IN 1881,,,,THE YEAR HE WAS SUPPOSED TO HAVE MARRIED JENNIE...AND WE KNOW THAT GREEN DIED IN FRIO COUNTY....OH WELL..LOL...YOUR DAD HAS MY E-MAIL IF IT DOES NOT SHOW HERE. THANKS A LOT COUSIN...VERNON

Hello! Yes, I am sure that W.L. and Mary F. Medford are buried in Sand Hollow Cem. Dad took pictures that I have copies of. Some of the information that I have on the Medford side of the family is too extensive to e-mail, so I'll try to send a copy via Dad to Pearsall. Annie's husbands are all buried there also: Green, William M. Henderson (d. 1892) and James Gray Little (d. 1921). I also have pictures of those headstones. Eva L. Medford who died of a snake bite, is also buried there. John G. Wallace and Sarah Wallace are also buried there (Sarah's headstone is no longer there). I have traced John to Georgia and am waiting to receive copies of his Confederate Pension record from the State of Texas Archives.
I do not know why Green is shown to have married Jennie Stapleton, nor can I find any information on her. Dad has contacted the researcher who posted that information and we are waiting to receive further documetation from her.

Kathy, If it is easier.....just -mail me at vmilaminsurance@karnesec.net The material your dad sent me also shows WL medford as buried in Atascosa County i think...but the proof is in the pudding..and you obviously are far ahead of me in your research. I do thank you for your help

My great-grandfather, Joseph Newton Goslin, his brother, William Turner Goslin and their nephew, Green Toalson came from Perche, Boone County, Missouri to Kyle, Hayes County, Texas. They had a freight business, taking goods to Atlanta, Georgia and Kyle, Texas. Joseph Newton Goslin brought three Wallace daughters from Atlanta to Kyle,Texas. He married Queen Victoria Wallace. Green Toalson married another sister; the third sister married someone else. These marriage took place in Hayes County. The third sister lived in Cotull. She married 3 times and had 2 children by each husband. Green's mother was Lovey Goslin, she died young and her parents, Sylvester F. Goslin and his wife Abigail Turner took the children to raise. I can not give the names of the two girls, because there was a house fire that destroyed my house and all of my geneaology records. I am trying to rebuild my records.
