Toalsons in Boone Co MO mid 1800's
I have found a family burial plot for Robert Lemon on what used to be their farm. Included are the stones for Wilhite's and two Toalson's. Sarah Jane Toalson, wife of A. J. Toalson, b. Nov 5, 1835, d. July 3, 1865 and their son, Robert T, b. Aug 15, 1857 and d July 6, 1858. I do not know how these are connected to the Lemons.

Toalson's in Boone Co., MO
Martha: I don't know how the Toalson's are connected to the Lemons, but I am very interested in the information about A. J.(Andrew) Toalson and Sarah Jane. This could very well be my g/g/grandparents. I have been looking for about 10 years, hoping someone would find a headstone or something in Boone Co. that could possibly help me. Do you have any other information? Sorry I can't help you.

A.J. Toalson was Augustus Jefferson Tolson (1 Dec 1830 in Boone Co. MO - 11 Dec. 1872 in Boone Co. MO). I understand that he later changed the spelling to Toalson after a feud with his brother who moved to another county. He married Sarah Jane Wilhoit (1837 in Danville, Boyle, KY - 31 Jul 1865 in Boone Co MO) on 4 Mar 1856. After her death he married her sister Rosanna in 1866.
He and Sarah Jane had 4 children: Mary Elizabeth (18 Jan 1862 in Boone Co - Nov 1881 in Boone Co.); Robert T. (Dec 1856 - Dec 1856 in Boone Co and he is buried in the Lemon Cemetery as is his mother; The other two children were born in Boone Co but died in Centralia and were buried in Centralia Cem. Boone Co. They were Walter Lee Toalson (15 Feb 1864 - 16 Oct 1893) and Alexander Robinson Toalson (7 May 1859 - 23 June 1929).
Alexander was married first to Eliza Forbis on 10 May 1899 and 2nd to Alice Lee (Turner( Hardin on 2 Aug 1904. Both marriages were in Boone County. He and Alice had two children Nathan Augustus Toalson (25 Jan 1911 - 21 May 1985) and Anna Lee Toalson (30 Aug 1906 - 11 Mar 1988). They were born and died in Centralia. This info is from the FamilySearch Ancestral File and was submitted by Ruth Minner of Columbia.
I hope this helps. If it is a match, would you like to help put Sarah Jane's stone back together and clean up the burial place?

I forgot one thing which might be what can help you make the connection. Anna Lee Toalson was married to F. Gano Chance on 28 June 1930. It may have been in Centralia but it was definitely Boone County. She died 11 March 1988 in Centralia so you might be able to find her obit for her survivors.

Thanks so much for the information. I don't believe this is a match, but I'm taking a shot at all possiblilities. I wish I were close enough to help with the clean up and restoration. Thanks again.

Re: Toalson's in Boone Co., MO
I found a book that has LOTS on info on Toalsons from Boone County, MO. It is "History of Boone County, Missouri 1882" compiled by Col. William F. Switzler. I found it at a Library that had genealogical resources. I am looking for an Elmer Toalson b.abt.1870 d.before 1926. He was m. Ethel Roberts b.1885 d. 1926. I think one of them has some connections to James T. Jackson &/or Mary Frances Rucker Jackson who both lived in Sturgeon, Boone County, Mo in the 1880s. Please respond if you find them...I hope the book helps you.

Re: Toalson's in Boone Co., MO
Thanks for the info, Sarah. I was able to find descendants of the Toalsons and Wilhites buried in our Lemon Cemetery north of Columbia. Two weeks ago we had a workday there. Three volunteers from the Genealogical Society of Central MO along with descendants from the Lemons, Toalsons, and Wilhites were able to clean and reposition markers back to 1837 and to replace an old wooden fence with a white vinyl fence. After 2 days of work it looks good. We were not able to make any connection between the Lemons and the other families but all were represented by descendants. Thanks again.

Re: Toalson's in Boone Co., MO
I'm working on my Hulen (John Calvin & Sallie Bruton) family and I believe Henry Clay Hulen (John Calvin & Sallie's son) was married to Sarah (Sally) Toalson. Do you have any info on this family? Would appreciate hearing from you, if you could head me in the right direction with this family. Thank you for your time.
