Since my last message Ihave done a liitle research and come up with a couple of things which might help. My Grt Granddad's name was Daniel Toal who was married to Catherine Tobin; they were married in Longriggend, Lanarkshire in Scotland. They were married on 10-07-1895. They had 4 sons and 3 daughters---Daniel, John, Richard, Robert, Katherine, Margaret and Mary. My Grt Grt Grandad was Richard who was married to Margaret Dobbin in the early part of 1872. They were married in the district of Randalstown Co. Antrim N. Ireland. Richard came from a small village called Ballygrooly in Drummaul Co. Antrim. I got this info. through the Mormon Church Ancestral Records which was entirely free and quite easy to use! I will be getting a copy of their marriage certificate soon from the Irish records office and from that I should be able to get his d.o.b. and then trace that back to find my Grt Grt Grt Grandad who nobody knows about!!! Fascinating stuff this Family Tree business!!! I'll post again soon to update you, until then if you have any info. or if you think I can help in any way please feel free to post a message and I'll come back to you as soon as possible. Happy hunting,
Kenny Toal.

Dear Maggie,
I was so pleased to read your post.
My Grandmother was Margaret Toal. She was born on June 12, 1899 in Musselburgh.
She moved to the US in 1922 and settled in Brooklyn, NY. She married James Lucas (also from Musselburgh) and together they had three children (two daughters: Catherine and Roseleen and a son). Their son was named Thomas Daniel Lucas. The "Daniel" after your Grandad.
My Grandmother would always talk about her brother Daniel. I have several photographs of him which my Grandmother saved. I also have several photos of your Great Grandparents which were saved by my Grandmother.
Margaret had a wonderful life. She lived to age 85 (April 21, 1985). She was very active (shopping, traveling, cooking) and living on her own to her last day. My grandfather lived for just another 9 months (January 14, 1986). They were happily married and together for 59 years.
Her two sisters, Catherine and Mary, also moved to the US. Mary lived a few years longer (1990). Catherine (the youngest sister born in 1908) also talked about her "good looking brother" Daniel. Catherine lived until age 92 (August 2001).
I hope this e-mail reaches you and I can arrange to send you copies of pictures.
Best regards, Gerard Devine
