William TOADVINE b.1760 d. 1804
My Revolutionary ancestor was William Toadvine b.1760 d. 1804 m. Priscilla Toadvine (!) b.1760 d. 1810..Their children were Jenny (Jane Pollitt) Toadvine, Polly (Oten or Outten) m. Issac Toadvine (!) in 1784..Ellender R. (Nelly Roach) Toadvine m. Jonathon Fooks..William Toadvine, Henry Toadvine, Purnell Toadvine m. Zipporah in Snow Hill, Md. and had 12 children. We ahve their names if you want. Also found a Henry Toadvine in Tyaskin Cemetery, Wicomico Co., Md. b. 11-29-1826 d. 2-20-1878. He could be from William. First William goes back to Nicholas Toadvine from Guernsey . Most of this is from Madelyn's application to the DAR on 9-1-1977 in Salisbury, Md. Hope this is of some help..Ellis

Re: William Toadvine b.1760 d. 1804
Thanks so much. However, I am looking for information pertaining to Zipporah parents (Benjamin and Hannah Fooks). My grandmothers maiden name is Fooks that is the line that I am trying to connect. I have information on Zipporah and Purnell but I am sorry it does not help me. Thanks again for the information Nancy

Re: William TOADVINE b.1760 d. 1804
Well, I just got to Purnell Toadvine in my research and am mystified about his father William Toadvine and his wife Priscilla. After doing a lot of google searches, I keep finding Priscilla's maiden name as Toadvine. Hummmm. At first I dismissed this as folks simply using her married surname in lieu of an unknown maiden name. I'm beginning to wonder if her maiden name is really Toadvine. If so, it brings up all sorts of questions. Can you enlighten me a bit on this?
Thanks for any help you may offer.

It has been a long time since I did the Family History of the Toadvine name, but I remember a Toadvine female marrying a first or second cousin and this may be the explanaion. When I documented this information in the 1960s, I had older ancestors still alive at the time who did not want me to include that informatin. It was not unusual in those days that one married a first or second coucil. But her maiden name was indeed Toadvine.
