My Fathers middle name is William. My grandfather's name was either Nick or William. I am unsure as he died long before I was born. I will ask Dad for his name. Chances are that Dads middle name is either from his father or his uncle. I am second generation Canadian. Dads parents both emmigrated from Ukraine in the late 20's early thirties, to eventually end up in Norhtern Saskatchewan. I have quite a few stories about the hardships they endured when first coming to the West. (If you are from the US, you don't know about the difference in national development between the US and Canada, to sum it up, where my family is from they were decades behind developmental lines in the US and lower Canada, these people did live in soddies, dugouts and lean-too's, they were the real deal) Anyway I'd love to hear from you to know if this info. helped or if there is anything me and mine can do for your and yours in your quest. Take care and we're looking forward to hearing from you.
p.s. Almost all the Tkachuks in my family are farmers for as far back as we know about, however as your probably aware, Stalin purged records along with people and thus info is scarce. Talk to you later

Similar story, only my family wound up settling in Alberta. The only surviving record we have from my family (the farthest back being my great great grandfather, Vasile Kachuk, born 1858 in Boian, Bucovina; married Domnica Hutzcal in 1885, emigrated in 1901; died in 1936) is a passport belonging to Domnica, which reads her last name to be Tkaczuk... from what I hear from my grandmother, her family was of farmers through and through, also having gone through the worst of conditions in their trials to get their own land in the New World. Vasile had at least one brother that we knew of, and together they cleared their land in their allotted time before owning it in accordance to the government. What a time to live...

quite a shock to find my dad's name Mike Kachuk, son of John Tkachuk.
Mike dropped the "T" when he immigrated to The Netherlands in '47, he married a Dutch girl "Kinny", he had 4 sons, Ron, Gordon, Glenn & Michael, he passed away in '78.

My husband's father was William (Wasil) Tkachuk. His siblings included: Nicholas, Tina, Steve, John, Polly, Nellie and Anna. His father was Phillip Tkachuk married to Sofia Hawryluk. Sofia's parents were Hawrylo Hawryluk and Wasylyna Drachuk. Phillip and Sofia came to Canada from Zazulinsi, Ukraine with Polly. Not sure if this is of help.

Hi Glen,

Sorry to take 5 years to answer back but you are in fact my 4th cousin.
My dad is Edward Tkachuk which was William and Ida's only son.
Is your mom Kinny still alive?
My Granddad past away in the late 80s at the age of 84 from pnemonia.
Dad remembers Granddad talking about your Dad and Mom, also your Brothers and sister. He seems to remember on of your brothers had passed away. is this correct?
My dad dropped the t off the last name when I was born in 71.

Talk to you later
