My father was named Wasyl Tkachuk but was known as William Katchuk. He was born in Insinger, Sask. but lived in Montreal, Que after WW2. His parents were Catherine Surkan and Harry Tkachuk. Harry died at an early age, around 36, of leukemia. Catherine later moved to Winnipeg.
I know nothing about my Tkachuk ancesters who imigrated from the Ukraine. Does this Tkachuk line fit in to anyone else's?

Hello, Linda. Recently I found out that my husband's grandfather, Philip Tkachuk may have had a brother named Harry. Philip came from the Ukraine in early 1900's but I can't verify whether his brother did the same. Philip lived for a time around Devil's Lake (Spirit Lake) in Saskatchewan, not far from Insinger, and my father-in-law was born in Canora. Philip had a couple of sisters too, one of whom was named Todoska. Does anything here relate to your research?

Thanks for your reply Kathy. Unfortunately I don't have any info on a Philip or Todoska. In fact, I don't have much information at all on this side of the family but I will get in touch with you if anything new crops up.
