Interesting that you mention John's nice and talkative son. That would be uncle Jack Tjepkes who does live near Minneapolis and did go to the birthday. If you are referring to Henrietta Donaldson, sister of John Tjepkes of Thermopolis, Wyoming, I happen to posses one of her scrapbooks with mostly newspaper articles, no pictures.
It would sure help me if you knew the names of Martin Tjepkes siblings and parents. Grandpa John couldn't remember them when I last spoke to him in 1994.

Here's Martin's obituary. He was married to a cousin of my husband's.

Martin A. Tjepkes, 102, a German-born farmer, died Thursday evening at the Stewartville Nursing Home after a short illness. He had been a resident of the nursing home for the past five years.
He was born Sept. 3, 1875 in Germany, and emigrated to Iowa as an infant with his parents. He married Vina Kramer in December 1900, at Grundy Center, Iowa, and they farmed near Grundy Center until 1920. The couple then moved to Owatonna and a year later to Olmsted County, where they farmed until retiring in 1946.
In 1946 they moved to Stewartville. Mrs. Tjepkes died in 1955.
Survivors include four daughters, Mrs. Henrietta Donaldson of Seattle, Wash., Mrs. Annie Simmonds of Minneapolis, Mrs. Harold (Gertrude) Hagen of Rochester, and Mrs. Harry (Tina) Kobi of Rochester; four sons, John of Thermopolis, Wyo., Albert of rural Spring Valley, Edwin of Tuscon, Ariz., and Arthur of California; 36 grandchildren, 95 great-grandchildren, and 12 great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three sons, three half-brothers, and three half-sisters.
The funeral is 2 p.m. Monday at United Methodist Church in Stewartville with the Rev. Stanley Williams officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in the spring.
Friends may call at the Griffin Funeral Home after 3 p.m. Sunday, until noon Monday and at the church an hour before the service. (obituary published 13 January 1978 in the Stewartville Star, Stewartville, Minnesota)
