Re: Tjaden, George Germany/NY
Unfortunately, I have almost nothing and it is from family heresay only except for a couple of birth records from Dortmund, but here it is.
Georg Tjaden m. Gretje Muessler from Norden. Their son was
Gerke Christian Tjaden d. 3 Dec 1899 m. Amke Eden Neeman dau. of Klaas Neeman and Adelheid Human. Their daughter was
Sophie Johanna Tjaden b. 21 Jan 1872 Dortmund; m. Paul Gustav Petruschke; d. 25 Dec 1954.
I believe Amke Eden Neeman died shortly after her daughter Sophie was born because Gerke had another daughter in 1874 by Anna Regina Neeman. She was Margarethe Tjaden. There were apparently two others: Hannah/Anna and George.
Sophie and Paul Petruschke's daughter lives with us, but doesn't know much about her family. She left Germany at age 17 and is now 96.

Re: Nationality Of Tjaden
I have traced my ancestory back to 1788 for sure. My ancestors name was Heike Tjaden born in Extum, Germany. His father was born in Hanover Province, Germany. His name I am pretty sure was Ludwig Tjaden probably born around 1730. These Tjaden's are considered to be from Ostfriesland, which is mostly Germany. Jacob Heikes Tjaden born in 1817 imagrated to the USA in Oct of 1857.
