Tivnan, MacGowan, Stevenson
I am descended from Michael Tivnan who married Margaret MacGowen in Boyle, Co. Roscommon on 15th February 1844, and they came to England soon after. They had several children, including Thomas, Ann (or Annie), Mary, John and Margaret. Ann is my great great grandmother and she said in English census returns she was from Ireland but I can find no trace of the baptism in Ireland. The other children were born in Derbyshire, England. Ann married William Stevenson and she lived for 30 years in Gosber Street, Eckington. John Tivnan was in and out of Chesterfield Workhouse between 1900 and 1911. If anyone can give me any more info about the origins of Michael Tivnan and Margaret MacGowan so I can take the trail back further I would be greateful. I think they lived in Doon but I can't prove it.

Hi, not sure if you can help me, but I have come across a Helen Tivnen (think this is the correct spelling on her son John Kelly's death cert)..
Helen married James Kelly and I know they had at least one son John Kelly who married Helen Glancey. John was born in about 1843 in Donegal Ireland I believe!
Are you able to assist with this? I'm relatively new to this family tree game and don't know how to search for Irish ancestors!
Any help you could provide me with would be wonderful!
Sheryl
