Tischer family from Kirchhain (Jackson) Wisconsin

Looking for other descendants of Gottlieb Christian Tischer (1801 - 1869) and Susannah Labitzky (1807 - 1889) who immigrated from Klein Ujeschuetz, Silesia, Prussia, to Kirchhain, Jackson township, Washington county, Wisconsin. Especially through their oldest son Gottlieb Tischer (1831 - 1904), who married Albertine Burmeister. Particularly interested in anyone who has old family photos or documents.

More about my family here: http://www.bartelt.org/geneal/

I believe my husband Tom is a descendant of Christian Tischer. His father was born in Milwaukee, WI and his grandfather's name was Rudolph. Can you tell me anything about him? How many children he had and his wife's name? Thank you so much.

I have an Edward Tischer born about 1880/1881 in Wisconsin. He married Louise Benn about 1920/1921. They are living in Milwaukee in 1920 and 1930. They have three sons.

Any connection?

I know of a Juliana Tischer (b.1862), married to Frank Bernhardt Ohm, married in 1886 in Kirchhayn, Jackson Co., Wisconsin. She is my 4th G. Grandmother. I do not know her ancestors or siblings and would appreciate any links provided.

Sorry for taking so long to reply. You'll have to give more
information to tell if your husband is related to me. For example,
when was Rudolf born?

There is a Christian Tischer (1837-1908) who was my
g-g-grandfather's brother. He served in the Civil War.
I don't have much information on his descendants.
The Mormon FHC has the David Star church
records on microfilm.

My g-g-grandfather had a brother Wilhelm Tischer, who had a son
Eduard Samuel Albert Tischer born 9 November 1880.
Wilhelm's wife was Maria Elisabeth nee Priedemann.
(This is from the David Star church records.) I don't
have any information on Eduard's wife or children.

Hi cousin,
Juliane Amalie Tischer (born 22 August 1862) was my
great-grandmother's sister. Their parents were
Gottlieb and Albertine (nee Burmeister) Tischer. see:
http://www.bartelt.org/geneal/Gottlieb_Tischer.html

The David Star church records show her husband's name
as Franz Gotthilf Hermann Ohm; married on 16 May 1886.
His parents were Edward(?) Adolf Ohm and Caroline
nee Lübke. I also have some information from another
cousin (also descended from Franz and Juliane, I think)
about their descendants.

I am 99% certain that is him, although, I do not have a copy of the marriage record. The obituary for Louise Marie Benn's father (Louis Benn) indicates that she is married to Ed Tischer. They married about 1910. She was born 09 Sep 1886 in Sherman Township, Sheboygan County, WI. They lived in Milwaukee and had 3 sons that I know of (according to census records):

Harold W. Tischer
Gordon R. Tischer
Ralph H. Tischer

Harold and his mother died in Racine County. Ralph died in Milwaukee County.

Thank you John for the reply.

The marriage date you give for Franz and Juliane is the same as the one I have for "Frank" and "Julianna". No doubt we are related.

I saw a 1880 census record listing a Frank Ohm (b.1862) as a servant in NY City. Curious to know if this was the same person. Do you have any info concerning his immigration to the U.S.?

I reviewed your Bartelt website. Quite impressive. It helped me quite considerably to flesh out the history of that branch of our family. I would like to know more about Juliane and Frank's descendents. Could you provide me via email with a contact to the other cousin you mentioned?

The David Star church records you reference sound like a terrific resource. Where can I find out more about this church - it's history and use as a reference?

Regards, Jill Mickelson

I don't know anything about his immigration, or whether
this is the same person.

I will try to find it and send it to you privately.

There are two resources you should check out. The first is the
book "The History of Jackson, Wisconsin 1843-2001", published
by the Jackson Historical Society. Their website:
http://villageofjackson.com/history.htm
There is an email address at the bottom of the page.
This book has a lot about the German immigrants who
first settled the area. It has a very short article about the Tischers;
but it's mostly useful for background.

The first church was David Star ("David Stern" in German)
Lutheran Church. The records for this church (from founding
to about 1915) have been microfilmed by the Mormons and
are available through their family history centers. (If you're
not familiar with them, see http://www.familysearch.org )

If you are in the area, you may be able to arrange with
the church secretary to see the original records, including
later ones.

Because I'm descended from several families who
settled there, I've photocopied quite a few pages from the
microfilm, which is why I had the Juliane Tischer/Franz Ohm
marriage record. I have not worked on filling in the Tischer
descendants much yet (busy with other branches).
(Though that was the intent my posting here.)

If you don't hear from me again soon, remind me to send
you whatever other contacts I have.
