Judy,

I am curious if Gustave Heinrich Tischendorf came from the family of Frank Tischendorf b. 3-16-1833 and Fredricka Heinz Tischendorf b. 12-25-1839

If so, he was one of 8 children, Henry, August, Amalia, Edward, Sophia (my great great grandmother), Emma and Anna.

Gustave's paternal grandparents were David and Johanna Tischendorf

Do you have any other information regarding the family- where they originated from in Germany, where the siblings settled, etc. Any thing would be helpful.

Thanks and good luck

Jennifer,

As far as I know the parents of my Gustav Heinrich Tischendorf (1837-1920) were Fridrig/Frederich and Christine Nuider Tischendorf. These are the names recorded on his death certificate. I do not have any information on his siblings. Gustav immigrated from Weida, Thuringia Germany in 1891 with his four sons and their families, settled in Dorchester, Clark County Wisconsin.

From the names you are listing, sounds like the Tischendorf's that settled near Milwaukee WI. Is that correct? I have never been able to make a connection between the two groups. Maybe someday if we go back a couple more generations.

If this was a Milwaukee Tischendorf family, there were death notices published in local papers for a Friedericka Tischendorf, age 71, that matches your ancestor.

Hello,
I know it has been some time since you last posted to ancestry.com, but we may have a connection that I would like to share with you.

My 2nd great grandfather was Frank Tischendorf (b. 3/16/1833) and he was married to Fredericke Hintz or Heinz (b. 12/25/1839). Frank immigrated from Lutzen, Sachsen, Germany and arrive in New York on 10/5/1852. Fredericke arrived later in New York on 5/18/1867; I don't know where she originated from.

They were married on about 1862 in Caledonia, Racine Co, Wisconsin and proceeded to have 7 children: August Carl (my great grandfather), Edward, Gustav August, Amelia Theresa, Mary, Henry F and Sophia. The only difference that really sticks out for me is Gustav's middle name; my records show his middle name to be August and yous show him a Heinrich. My records show that Gustav was born 6/30/1866 in Oak Creek, Milwaukee Co., Wisconsin. My records also show Fredericke being 71 when she died on 2/28/1911 in Oak Cree, and was buried on 3/1/1911 in Oak Creek at On Their Lot On Hwy 32, Cemetary Just North Of Racine County Line On The East Side.

If this matches to what you know, I would very much like to share information with you. I am Dennis Tischendorf and I live in Oak Creek. My email address is dtischen@wildblue.net, or you can reach me through ancestry.com by responding to my reply. I eagerly look forward to hearing from you.

Dennis -- you may have been replying to the original poster? My posting was made on the Rootsweb page. I've replied to you via email about my Tischendorf entries found in "Milwaukee's German Newspapers; an index of death notices and related items" (1844-1950).
The locations of Oak Wood (Milwaukee Co.) and Naumberg, Germany are referenced in some of these clippings.
