Tipp family

I am very interested in any information pertaining to the Tipp family from Germany. So far we have been able to trace our family tree to John Henry Tipp who emigrated to the US from Hannover Germany sometime in the 1800s. The family then moved about in the states of Wisconsin and Iowa before my Great Grandfather (Lewis Tipp or Andrew Lewis Tipp) settled in Eastern Montana. Perhaps we could share some of our information and find a connection

Was your great grandfather married to an Elizabeth Engel?

I made a mistake earlier. I show a Lewis Tipp in my family tree. Apparently my grandfather's sister married a Lewis Tipp. Her maiden name would have been Roda. This may have taken place in WI since my grandfather was born there, ergo his sister was born there also. Any connection? Her mother and father would have been Chris Roda and Elizabeth Engel.

Oooops!

By the way... my grandfather also moved to Eastern Montana so there may be a distant connection.

If your grandmother's name was Minnie, who had sons(?), George and Donald, I think I have a connection.

I have little doubt that we are on the right track. Actually, my Great-grandfather's name was Lewis, and I do believe that his wife's name was Minnie (Rodda). I do not have my geneological information at my office to check.

My grandfather was George Tipp, and his wife (my grandmother) was actually Christine Tipp.

It seems to me after seeing your last name that you may have already had contact with my Uncle George Tipp (formerly of National City California, and now in Puyallup, Washington) regarding our common ancestry. We have traced our family (as indicated in my earlier posting) to John Henry Tipp, and have quite a lot of information relating to the family tree.

George (i.e., Uncle George) has the most comprehensive information relating to our linage. He can be reached at gdt@msn.com and it would be a good idea for the two of you to get into contact -- if you haven't already. In the mean time, have forwarded your posting to him.

Bryan! I thought you'd never answer me! Yes, this is my family tree! My brother was named after one of your relatives, Arthur Tipp!

Anyway, Minnie Roda was my grandfather's (Edward) sister.

We kept in contact with Robert (Uncle Bob) Tipp until the early 70s. As a matter of fact, I was rather close to him and his wife, Barbara and their children Jackie and Leslie.

I also found another relative on the Schledewitz side who knew your great grandfather and grandfather and this lady is still alive! She told me her, my Mom and your Uncle(?) Arthur used play together.

Would it be okay if I gave this information you gave me to my brother? He's really wants to get to know the Tipp side of the family.

There is nobody left on our side except him and I. I think that is why I'm obsessed with finding cousins, aunts and even half brothers or sisters (if I can).

When you get a chance, could you list the family relationships? I would like to know who Robert Tipp was decended from.

This is getting remarkable long and I apologize. But it's nice making contact with a distant cousin.

Please keep in touch. If there is any information I can give you I'd be more than happy (but remember I'm still finding some of these things out also!)

Take care, Bryan

Do you know of a Donald Tipp. My Aunt Roberta (Howland)was or is his wife. I have never met either. Can you help me?

Brian,
The William Tipps, I am looking for would be my great grandfather. All I know is that he lived in Overly, North Dakota and worked for the railroad company himself. He would probably be in his 90's by now.
