I'm a descendant of Jose Malaret Anglada, father to Jose Malaret Rodriguez, born in Maricao, P.R. and co-founder of the Utuado branch of the Malaret Family late during the nineteenth century.

It appears you are from the Malaret Tio (Sabana Grande) branch. Can we exchange information about our mutual ancestors? My interest is to rebuild the entire family tree.

I am a descendant of Pedro Malaret Anglada (a paternal great-great grandfather from my grandmother's side). I found some notes on the Malaret Family, but cannot find a José. Maybe somebody forgot to list him. This is the information: Esteban Malaret Aguasvivas married Reparada Anglada Martinell. They were the parents of Pedro Malaret Anglada, Angela, Manuel And Dominga.
Pedro Malaret Anglada married Rosa Yordán Rodríguez and had 7 children ( Angelina Malaret Yordán, Pedro, Manuel, Matilde (my great-grandmother, married to Pablo Vilella Pol from Lares), Enrique, Camelia, Augusto, and Blanca. At least some of these were born in Sabana Grande, Puerto Rico, starting in 1863 until 1881).
Angela Malaret Anglada married Salvador Tió Urgell and had 6 children (Angelina Tió Malaret, Félix, Enrique, Camila, Juan, and Salvador. Juan and Salvador were twins. The Tió Malaret children were born between 1854 and 1874).
Manuel Malaret Anglada married Luisa Semidey and had no children.
Dominga Malaret Anglada was first married to Pedro Torrós and had no children. She later married Salvador Torrós and had 3 children (Alejandro Torrós Malaret, Manuel, and Salvador).
Even though your ancestor José is not in the list, it is very probable that these people come from the same family as yours.

I have a general question about the Malaret country of origin. I am an American whose name, Mallorey, was mis spelled when my Great great grandparents emmigrated from the Channel Islands, at the time under French control. Through much research, I've discovered the the original spelling was Maloret, or something very similar. When the people at Ellis Island asked my gg grandfater his name, I can see why they wrote it down the way they did. Any Mallorey in the US whose name includes the "e" is a relative of mine and ultimately we can trace it back to a French origin (my ggrandfather only spoke French as a child)
I'm just wondering if there is any connection????
