Michael Tingler is also my ancestor. We are of German desent, not indian related. My branch of the Tinglers were mostly out of the Paint Bank, Virginia area. Maggie Tingler ran the post office there. There is also Tingler's Mill around that location. There is a friend of the family's that has traced all of our family history, including the Tinglers that moved out West. I'll have to contact her with a request of the history. This will take time. Let me know when you will be in Virginia as I have many family members still living there in the Roanoke area.
