I have in my possession a scrapbook kept by my gg-grandmother, Elizabeth W. (Griffitt) McCurdy (1830 - 1915)of Hendricks Co., Indiana.
The book consists of newspaper clippings of interest to her, including obituaries of family and friends. One such clipping is for Mary E. (Bales)Tincher. Mrs. Tincher is not connected to my family in any way that I have yet discovered, however, I thought the obit. might be of interest to someone researching that line. It is fairly lenghty so I will not attempt to transcribe here. Some facts are:
"Mary E. Bales was born near Salem, Hendricks Co., Ind., December 9, 1823."
"Her father was a Quaker preacher...".
Married Sampson TIncher, local preacher, Aug. 11, 1842.
Mother of seven children, two of whom were living at the time of her death, Emma N. Lowery and Rev. Frank S. Tincher.
The death of her husband occured a few months before
hers.
Her death occured August 14, 1897, with burial in Crown Hill Cemetery
Neither the publication, nor the date, are on the clipping.
If anyone is interested in a copy I will be happy to e-mail it to them.
