Surnames: COX, DAVIS, SMITH, DAVIS
Looking for Ancestors and descendants of this couple:
Josiah/Joseph A. and Sarah J. (nee: SMITH) TINCH.
Josiah born abt. 1844 TN.
I believe he is a son of Alexander and Isabela (nee: DAVIS) TINCH. They moved from Tennessee to the Coles & Clark County area of Illinois. Both Josiah and Alexander served in the Civil War.
Sarah J. SMITH was born abt. 1849 IL and according to her death record her parents were George and ______ (nee: COX) SMITH.
Josiah and Sarah married abt. 1867 in Coles County, Illinois. They had 9 children: Eli, Solomon, Sarah, Richard B., Charles Jefferson, Mary Ann, Daisy Ellen, George Washington, and Bay P. TINCH. All children were born in Illinois except Richard and Charles who were born in Iowa.
Note: this surname has been found mistakenly recorded/filed as FINCH or LINCH at times.
I look forward to exchanging information on this family.
