Debbie,
My mother, Ann Marie, and Maureen are first cousins. Carrie Timbey was my grandmother. I have been searching for Grandma Carrie's family for several years now. Just a few days ago I found Maureen on this website. I felt sure she must be Momma's cousin and my Godmother. Momma lost contact with Maureen years ago when Momma moved with her husband to North Carolina and Maureen remained in Brooklyn, New York.
I am a little bit overwhelmed by all of this. I knew I could find history of the family if I kept searching, but never imagined actually making contact with anyone. As I told Maureen, Momma now lives with me and through her I have pieced together little pieces of the puzzle. But because my Grandmother really never talked much about Ireland (or at least not when Momma & the children were around), we have little to go on. Also Momma's now 67 and some memories are clearer than others. Grandma CArrie passed away wwhen I was 11, so my memories are vague. I do remember Maureen's Dad, Uncle Jimmy, quite well, but he passed away when I was in my early twenties.
I am very much interested in learning as much as I can about the family. My cousin Peter, Momma's oldest sister's son, has been to Ireland in the last several years but was unable to learn anything. Anything you can share would much be appreciated.
Hope to talk again,
Marie

Hello Marie,
How super to hear from another Timbey relation. I have been in touch with Maureen for about two years now. I stumbled across her on this website. i have recently changed my e-mail address and only turned again to this site while browsing message boards.
My mother Jocelyn (70) is the last female Timey in our line. She has two brothers John (68 and unmarried) and David (63 divorced with a daughter Dianne 36).
I am married and live in ngland with my husband Chris and children Robert nearly 17 and Susannah nearly 13.
I have done a lot of research into the Timbey family. There appear to have been two brothers (possibly more siblings so far untraced) - Robert and John sons of John Timbey shoe and boot maker in Belfast 1841. Robert was my Greatgreatgrandfather and John would be your Greatgreatgrandfather. So I guess that makes us cousins of some sort!!
I have birth/marriage and death certificates from your side of the family and have traced addresses and visited the family plot in Belfast city cemetery where your Great Grandpa Samuel's parents ,brothers and sisters are buried.
I would be only too happy to send you copies.
i have no information about your Grandmother's family apart from tracing their arrival in America in the Ellis Island website,.
