Just an Idea but you might try looking for your people under different spellings like Tomberlin or tomblin, my name is Tomberlin and I have found my family under Toumblin and other spellings, I know they are the same people because they were in later census's that give the childrens names.

Hi, I'm related to the same Sidney Timberlin. He and his wife, Rosa, had 7 children (Jane, Sidney, Richard, Henry, John, Cornelius, and Fred). I'm descended from Sidney jr's line-he married Catheran McCann and had 3 daughters. They ran a boarding house in North Pownal. The daughters later moved to Schenectady. Mary, one of the daughers, married Pierce Mooney from Hoosick Falls, New York. Their oldest son is my grandfather--and my middle name is Timberlin. I'm really interested in learning more about the Timberlins so please let me know any information you might have!

Thanks!
Sarah

Dear Sarah:

I came across your information here and thought I would drop you a line. My name is Patricia Mooney and I am researching Timberlins as well as Mooneys.

I have run into many brick walls about these families but thought I would share what I do know.

Pierce Mooney was my great uncle( my father's uncle..great guy..loved going to see him in Schenectady). However, Uncle Pierce was married to Rose Timberlin not Mary as you suggested in your posting. Aunt Rose was a great lady as well...always very nice to me as a kid.

Uncle Pierce and Aunt Rose's oldest son was Robert Mooney who was my cousin and godfather. Small world eh?

If you would like to connect or chat back and forth please feel free to get back to me. I would love to see what you have on both the Mooney and Timberlin sides.

Happy Thanksgiving! Hope to hear from you soon!

Pat Mooney

Hi Pat! Erin Mooney (my mom's cousin) told me you were doing all this. I think it's great and would love to compare notes with you. Basically I'm writing a senior thesis at Middlebury in the English/creative writing departments that's about Vermont, place, our family, and my understanding of where I'm from. That's what's lead me to do all this research. You're right, I mis-typed in the public posting about Rose Timberlin. I've been talking to mom and Beth about their grandmother Rose and aunts Mary and Georgiana a lot this fall--so fun to hear all the stories! I know Erin has talked about doing a geneology get-together in December. I'm certainly interested. Feel free to send me an email at sharris31@gmail.com with any information you do have. My research has mostly been into the Timberlins, who arrived in North Pownal between 1870 and 1880 and worked in the mill. My biggest question at the moment--mostly about my direct line--is how and why they left Vermont for Schenectady. Presumably the mill dried up and GE was booming? I'd love to talk to you soon! Happy Thanksgiving!
