I am looking for the parents of Dolly C. Tillman who was born abt 1802 in GA, lived in Sumter County for a while, and died abt 1870 in Lowndes County, GA.


She married James Simpson about 1825, had sons named George, James, Henry, Moses, Aaron, Moses and Peter, and one daughter named Sarah who married Thomas N. Bembry and was my ggg grandmother.


There is an Aaron Tilman found on early tax lists and censuses for Franklin county GA who might be her father or grandfather, and also a Henry Tilman who lived in Talbot and Marion counties who is a little too young to be her father, but might well be her brother.

Can anyone help me pin this down further? I know that the name probably started out as Tilghman, and that there has been a lot of research done on that family, but I need to make this connection before I can go any further back. Thanks.
