Interesting post. I am descended from Eliz. "Betsey" Tillapaugh Cole (daughter of Baltus and E. Schmidt) who first changed the traditional spelling of Dällenbach, you found in the book you mention in your post. Nelson Washington Cole (1818-1903), of Betsy and Sylvanus Cole (first husband) married Harriet N Post (1832-1900) and had a daughter named Cora Ann COLE who married Charles Erwin PALMER.
Charles is the son of Reuben Barber PALMER (of North Brookfield, Madison County, New York) married Clarinda GLIDDEN (of Orleans County, New York) in Racine, Wisconsin in 1849 spending time in Kenosha, Dane and Milwaukee and Rock counties before moving west to Brookings, South Dakota.
Charles wife, Cora Ann COLE (1858-1911), and his father-in-law, Nelson W COLE, were in Jefferson & Oswego County in New York, and known in Rock & Walworth County.
Although I have not found an Irene Palmer within this line it would be interesting to find more similar patterns.
